Macanudo has been around longer than most of us having been enjoying cigars, and for good reason. With its roots in Havana, Cuba, this decades old brand is the gold standard for consistency and excellence — especially if you love mellower blends. Before you dive into this one, let me give you a little advice: this ain’t your daddy’s Macanudo. Inspirado Red is a full-bodied flavor bomb, possibly the strongest blend to ever wear the Macanudo name. Born from the rich, volcanic soils of Nicaragua, Red features an Ecuadorian wrapper leaf, complemented by Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan and Honduran long-fillers. Each puff reveals loads of dark fruit, red pepper, hints of cedar, and slight notes of leather. Complex, delicious, and affordable, Inspirado Red is an absolute must-have.

Smooth tabacco flavor with hints of mineral. Very nice draw android burn. Nothing spectacular but a good weeknight cigar.

Great burn and draw. Nicely tight packed. Flavor was good but on the edge of harsh. Only a month into humidor I'm sure it will improve

Apparently, Macanudo used to be generally known for it’s milder blends, but if anything, the Inspirado Red can’t be considered ‘Mild’ at all. Created for the 50th anniversary of the brand, the Inspirado Red is a well constructed cigar that sports a nice dark and oily wrapper. The band is colourful and shiny, but fits the cigar well. The Aroma really impresses from the start, and after ‘a cut and a light’, notes of cappuccino, dark chocolate, wood, some pepper, and hints of Anise can be discovered. With an almost perfect burn, an ideal draw, and great taste, the Macanudo usually entertains me for a good two hours, and ticks all my boxes to earn a solid score!
