A grand offering indeed
Don ‘Pepin’ Garcia is an unstoppable force in the world of cigars. From his own line of cigars, to his work with My Father, to his blending and production of many San Cristobal and Tatuaje releases, DPG is easily among the top three in the world’s greatest blenders. Today, we focus on another rejuvenation of a classic brand courtesy of Don Pepin, La Gran Oferta.
Handmade at the world-renowned My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, La Gran Oferta features a gorgeous and dark Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper leaf. Underneath, you’ll find a mixture of Nicaraguan binder and long-fillers presenting a medium to full-bodied profile. Toasting the foot, you’ll find the classic Don ‘Pepin’ Garcia black pepper up front, following up with notes of dark chocolate and a rich, fruity sweetness.
Good news! The My Father Gran Oferta has received a well-deserved 91-point rating, noting: "There's a spicy, earthy quality to this dark robusto, which gleams with oil. Notes of black pepper, almonds and chocolate build to a salted caramel finish."

My Father La Gran Oferta
Purchased in St Thomas last month. This blend is full of cedar and a lot of baking spice. Black pepper comes in strong on the retro. The draw is open, producing a ton of smoke and enabling a very even burn line. The flavors longer on the palate for a good while.
My Father La Gran Oferta
Creamy with notes of cedar baking spice and light chocolate. Draw was a tad open. Cracked a bit when cut even though humidity was spot on. Construction looked a little rough to be honest. Good smoke production regardless and no enjoyable smoke. I would trying again.

My Father La Gran Oferta
Nice cigar, well built. Dark, oily wrapper. Good draw. Burn ok, needed a few touch ups. Grey, solid ash. Consistent flavor throughout. Strong, not too overwhelming. Will buy it again

My Father La Gran Oferta
Somewhat surprising. This is my first stick in this brand. The wrapper appears to be rolled by a novice using leaf parts. The cap cracked into pieces when cut. However, I don't put my cigars on display, I smoke'em so I more interested in taste and burn. The taste stated of on the light side with nothing distinctive, but by the second and third I was tasting citrus, nuts and a bit of chocolate which caught me by surprise given the start. The smoke was rich and the ash held strong to the last third which needed a few touchups, but I was reading financial stuff and probably ignored it too much. Ignoring the looks and the shattered cap it was a good evening smoke. No rain made it even better. (See my last smoke.)

My Father La Gran Oferta
Another MF banger! My first time trying this one and already can’t wait to pick up more. Thankfully the rain didn’t stick around & I was able to enjoy the rest of the stick.

A gift from my son for Father's Day! Great choice and thought. Have one now and another on Sunday! To all you fathers: Happy Fathers Day
My Father La Gran Oferta
Cold draw: dark chocolate First third: leather, roasted coffee, very slight hint of wood. Pepper on retro only Second: leather, nuttiness, oak? Third: dark roast coffee, dark chocolate Draw: slightly tight but not off putting Appearance: Burn: flawless burn Construction: no major issues, quite veiny Tasting notes: this cigar had a very rich chocolate aroma. Very pleasant smelling.
