Oliva Serie V Melanio has arrived. The stunning follow-up to Oliva's 94-rated Serie V and coveted, limited release Serie V Maduro. I'll be perfectly honest with you, we had the chance to sample these lovelies fresh off the rolling table, and they were every bit as scrumptious as you could hope. My suggestion, get your Melanio cigars now before the backorders build.
Oliva Serie V Melanio will have you at hello, thanks to gorgeous Ecuadorian-grown Sumatra leaf that's dark, thick, oily, and seamless in appearance. Beneath this leaf, a flavorful blend of long-leaf ligeros from Nicaragua unites, including the Oliva's oldest, most prized leaves from Condega and Esteli, along with some extra tobaccos from Jalapa for more flavor and aroma. Each Melanio is full-bodied and full-flavored, with unique nuances such as black pepper, freshly-baked bread, and unsweetened cocoa. You might also notice some toast and lightly creamed coffee. Either way, you're in for a delicious treat from one of the most celebrated cigar-making families in Nicaragua, let alone the industry.
Great news, the Serie V Melanio was honored as the #1 Cigar of 2014, and most recently #8 Cigar of 2020, earning as high as a 96-point rating which noted: "has rich, big notes of leather framed by a range of coffee, caramel and woody intonations."

TL;DR - an exquisite, spicy smoke again. Mostly Cedar and coffee. The Nougat retro in the finish is seriously cool 😎 Recommended 👍 Aged 16 mos, dry-boxed 7 hours ⏳️ Mixed baking spices show up in the long finish.

TL;DR - an exquisite smoke. Mostly Cedar, coffee and hazelnut. The Nougat retro in the finish is seriously cool 😎 Recommended 👍 Aged 16 mos, dry-boxed 4.5 hours ⏳️ Light-up is easy 👌 Goldilocks construction and draw. Initial impressions: cedar and coffee to start. Hazelnut makes an appearance later in the smoke. Leather and caramel in the last third, and the Nougat finish at the end saves this otherwise linear cigar. Mixed baking spices show up in the long finish. Burn 🔥 is excellent. Amongst the best I've encountered in this regard. Medium flavors and medium nicotine. Pairing ideas: whiskey and scotch seem obvious.

Very consistent. You really can't go wrong with these if you you enjoy the chocolate notes. Burn and draw have been impeccable each time. I'm sure these have been reviewed at nausem but they are a good cigar

Nice cigar. Repeat review. I enjoy these and stocked up on them before having the maduro version. Not sure what I was thinking as I love maduros. These are good but the maduro is great. Not complaining but sometimes you get ahead of yourself.

Flavorful and smooth. The box pressed shape and feel really enhanced the experience. Gave the band to my brother while on the course as an instant recommendation. I’ll be stocking up.
